Acrylic Nail Ripped Off Real Nail Treatment

Nail Emergency: How to Fix a Ripped Acrylic or Real Nail

Acrylic Nails

Step 1: Assess the Damage

Carefully inspect the damaged area to determine the severity of the rip. If the rip is small and doesn't extend to the base of the nail, you can attempt to repair it yourself.

Step 2: Prepare the Nail

Clean the damaged area with a cotton ball dipped in rubbing alcohol. This will remove any dirt or debris and help the adhesive adhere better.

Step 3: Apply Nail Glue

Apply a thin layer of nail glue to the edges of the rip. Use a toothpick or a fine-tipped brush to apply the glue precisely.

Step 4: Seal the Rip

Gently press the edges of the rip together until the glue dries. Hold for several minutes to ensure a strong bond.

Step 5: File and Buff

Once the glue has dried, use a fine-grit file to smooth out any rough edges. Then, buff the nail to restore its shine.

Real Nails

Step 1: Clean the Wound

If the real nail is also torn, gently clean the wound with soap and water. Apply a small amount of antibiotic cream and cover it with a bandage.

Step 2: Protect the Nail

Cut a small piece of fabric or a teabag and place it over the damaged nail. Secure it with medical tape to protect the nail from further damage.

Step 3: Keep It Dry

Avoid getting the damaged area wet for at least 24 hours. This will allow the wound to heal and the nail to strengthen.

Step 4: Seek Medical Attention

If the rip is severe or the nail is deeply cut, seek medical attention immediately. A doctor may need to stitch the nail or prescribe antibiotics to prevent infection.
